Question: Will Mealworms run a simple course to get to a food source?

Hypothesis:

Exploration Phase:

Trial #1: One barrier, Bran as the goal, One meal worm
- Salt ran the course in 3 minutes. Instead of going around the barrier Salt followed a straight line against the wall of the course and climbed straight up at the corner. She was pushed back into the maze and continued climbing the walls of the maze. Once back at the barrier she climbed over the top head first, holding on with her tail somehow to lower herself to the floor. After climbing over Salt went directly to the Bran goal.

Trail # 2: One barrier, Bran as the goal, Two meal worms
-Coco is moving straight, veering left to the wall. Then they took a u-turn. Now he’s using his butt to pull himself along the wall. Andre is hanging out in the corner. They are both climbing the walls looking for an escape. Andre and Coco were both knocked back into the course by matt. Coco made it to the bran after 45 seconds of horsing around. He is now eating bran.

Trial # 3: One barrier, no bran as goal, One meal worm
-Tumble tried to escape but after he was put back in he wandered around the beginning of the course for about 45 seconds. Margaret directed him in the right direction and he got to the goal in approximately 30 seconds.

Trial #4: One barrier, bran as goal.
-Hung around for about a minute and a half, and then went to the first turn and tried to escape. Margaret pointed him in the right direction again but he did not seem to know or care that there was bran. After a minute Margaret turned him towards the bran to show him what we were trying to get him to do. He slowly made his way there about a minute after Margaret “showed” him.
